Budget together · Open beta

A private budget app for couples

Make household money easier to understand together. Plan shared bills, keep receipts, and review your spending in a modern app that keeps budgeting data on your devices.

One household, a clearer picture

Put accounts, recurring expenses, and receipts in the same household books. Use your own devices to review what is coming up and what has already cleared, without making a spreadsheet your shared routine.

Start in the web app. Desktop and mobile apps are coming soon.

Your household books

  • Changes shared between connected devices
  • CSV imports you review before adding
  • Receipts attached to the transactions they explain

Build your shared budgeting routine

  1. Step 1

    Start with your household accounts

Add the bank and cash accounts you budget with, then enter their current balances. Account balances are maintained manually, so update them when you reconcile with your bank.

    Set up accounts
  2. Step 2

    Plan the bills you share

Create categories for spending and schedules for recurring bills, income, and transfers. Review the upcoming week together and record transactions when they settle.

  3. Step 3

    Bring in transactions and receipts

Import a bank CSV, check the columns, choose an account, and review the rows before adding them. Store receipt images or PDFs and attach them to transactions when you need the record.

  4. Step 4

    Connect your household devices

In a hosted finance space, use Settings to invite your partner and manage registered devices. Each device keeps its own local data; connected devices exchange changes through encrypted peer-to-peer sync.

    Check sharing and sync limits

Know what sync does

Local budgeting works offline. Sync needs connected devices and a working network connection; it is not a cloud backup. The free hosted plan supports two registered devices with direct connections. Silver and Gold support more devices and can use an optional encrypted network relay when the hosted service is configured for it.

Hosted sign-in and invitations use online services. Optional usage analytics are separate from your financial data. Read the privacy guide before choosing the setup that suits your household.

Keep side hustle books distinct

Household bills and business expenses deserve their own picture. Shilling uses separate finance spaces, or Books, for each. Gold supports membership in multiple spaces, so your household and side business can have separate records.

Sharing is at the finance-space level. Treat an invitation as access to that space; do not assume an individual account or transaction is hidden from another member.

Questions before you start

Can we try it without a subscription?

Yes. Local budgeting, CSV imports, receipt storage, and direct sync for two hosted devices are available on the free plan. Paid checkout and relay availability depend on the hosted service setup. Check the current plan capabilities before upgrading.

Does Shilling connect to our bank automatically?

Live bank linking is planned and is not available in the current beta. Use CSV exports from your bank and review the import instead. Balances are entered and reconciled manually.

Will our budget sync when a device is offline?

You can keep budgeting locally. Changes sync when the devices connect again over a working peer-to-peer connection. Sync does not create a server-side backup you can recover after losing every device.
